This video shows how you can use a nine volt battery to test bubble lights, matchless stars, Nippon rosette stars, C6 cone lights, and other types of miniature base bulbs. I've used this method to test milk glass figural bulbs successfully, but I was told that some of the early figural bulbs may be from battery powered sets, taking less voltage a piece, and these could be risky to use on a nine volt battery. Many bulbs have the voltage imprinted on the top of the metal base that screws into the socket. If the voltage listed is nine or more volts this type of testing will be fine. Most miniature base bulbs take 14-15 volts, and this method will safely light them.
